Tributes have been paid to a 'loving and vibrant' father who died in a stabbing in the West Midlands this week. It comes as a 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Kelvin Ward was found with serious injuries just after 8pm on Chester Road, Castle Bromwich on Tuesday (April 18). This morning, his heartbroken family have released a statement through West Midlands Police.

Flowers left at the scene by friends describe Mr Ward as a 'true gentleman', according to BirminghamLive.One read: "Can't believe this news!! Another good man lost. RIP." A touching note left on a bouquet at the scene in Castle Bromwich read: "RIP Kelvin. You were a true gentleman and will be very sadly missed. Life is so cruel. God bless."

It's believed the car Mr Ward was travelling in was rammed by another vehicle at the junction of Windward Way. Police said Mr Ward was then attacked by a number of people who fled the scene.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested this morning on suspicion of murder and will be questioned by detectives today. In a statement, Mr Ward's family said: "We would like to thank everyone for their loving messages and support at this very sad time.

"Kelvin was a loving partner, father, son, brother and friend to many. He was very well loved, vibrant, full of life and will be greatly missed."

West Midlands Police have urged anyone with information to come forward. Detective Chief Inspector Dave Sanders, who is leading the investigation, said: "Our thoughts remain with Kelvin’s family at this deeply distressing time. It’s important that we understand what happened and that we get answers for Kelvin’s family.

"I’m really keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and anyone who has any dashcam footage, to get in touch. It could be vital to our investigation."
