A former Nuneaton town centre pub dubbed an 'eyesore' could be bulldozed. Plans have been revealed to demolish the former Kingsholme pub.
An application seeking to demolish the old pub, which was once part of the famed Abbey Run pubcrawl, have been submitted to Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council. It is the first movement from the building's owners since plans were submitted years ago to turn it into a takeaway.
The plans detail how the building would be demolished, but do not indicate what the future plans are for the prominent site on the corner of Upper Abbey Street and Jubilee Way. But, if given the green light, the demolition of the building would bring an end to the saga surrounding the building and the repeated pleas for works to be undertaken.

Only a matter of weeks ago a 'call for action' was made by some councillors for action to be taken at the building. This is because it has become a target for vandals and criminals, most notably in May 2012 when police found a huge cannabis factory in production inside the former pub and there have been several 999 calls to report fires inside the building this year.
What happens now?
The application is now being looked at by planners at the Town Hall. As part of this process, people can have their say on the plans. The proposals can be found on the council's website, under the planning application section, searching for application number 039895.
A target decision date for the proposal has been set as December 8.
