The Environment Agency has issued a number of new flood alerts as heavy rain lashes Coventry and Warwickshire. Its live flood map shows several areas in Warwickshire where locals are being warned that 'flooding is possible'.

In the alerts it states that the Environment Agency 'closely monitoring the situation'. People are being urged to 'take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water'.

The live map updates come as heavy rain is lashing the area. While there are no official Met Office alerts in place, today's forecast states 'that rain is spreading northeastwards bringing 'heavy and prolonged downpours' this afternoon and into the evening.
