Bristol Rovers defender Bryant Bilongo has joined National League outfit Rochdale AFC on a permanent transfer.

The left-sided player has signed a one-and-a-half-year deal which brings his spell with the Gas to a close.

The left-back made 33 appearances in all competitions for the Gas, with 15 coming this campaign.

Upon joining Rochdale, Bilongo said: β€œI’m excited to be here. Me and the gaffer have been talking for a while and it’s nice to have that interest.

β€œI’m quite athletic. I like to bring that pace and energy into the team.

β€œI want to bring whatever I can to help the team, and I can’t wait to get out in front of everyone.”

β€Œ

Rochdale boss Jimmy McNulty said he was delighted with the acquisition of a player who caught his eye playing against Dale.

β€œBryant is a player we’ve been aware of for a long time,” McNulty said.

β€Œ

β€œWe’ve always been monitoring the situation and Bryant was available at the right place at the right time.

β€œHe’s got an excellent ceiling height. He stuck in my mind when we played Ebbsfleet United away a couple seasons ago. He can grow into an excellent player for us.”
