Jason Knight has again reinforced his desire to play Premier League football whilst on international duty with Ireland, but the Bristol City skipper insists he is both "relaxed" about his future and unaware of any interest in his signature.

The 24-year-old was an everpresent for the Robins this season, starting all 50 matches Liam Manning's side played in all competitions whilst also captaining City to their first top six finish in almost two decades.

Since making the move to Ashton Gate from Derby County in the summer of 2023, when he put pen to paper on a four-year contract with the Reds, Knight has been a fan favourite. This term he won both the Player's Player of the Season and Supporters Player of the Season awards having chipped in with three goals and six assists.

Knight's impressive performances in red and white have unsurprisingly seen some link him with a move to the Premier League this summer. Although the 24-year-old has made no secret of his ambition to test himself at the highest level, he is insistent that he is enjoying himself in the West Country.

"The first season at Bristol was good," the skipper explained in a press conference on Tuesday. "Obviously I played a lot of games and then obviously progressed this season, scored a few goals, got assists, and played a lot of games as well.

"I probably went into more of a leadership kind of role, being captain. So I've enjoyed it. We had a really good campaign, we fell short towards the end, but a really progressive campaign for the club and for myself as well.

"I've obviously had a good season, I'm enjoying myself at Bristol," Knight continued. "I want to be ambitious. I want to play in the top division.

"But I'm relaxed, if it's now or in the future, that will be. I’ve just got to keep performing well to get to that point.

"Not that I've heard anyway," the midfielder finished when asked if there had been interest in his signature. "It's been a bit quiet for the last couple of weeks, just with the season-ending. It's been a long season, so nothing so far."

Knight and his City teammate Max O'Leary are two of just three Championship players set to feature for the Boys in Green this month, alongside Preston North End's Robbie Brady. Ireland boss Heimir Hallgrimsson has, for the most part at least, taken the chance to give players plying their trade in the second tier a much-needed break for the games against Senegal and Luxemborg, with the regular league season coming to an end over a month ago.

Should he feature in both friendlies, Knight will end the 2024/25 term having played 59 games for both club and country since the campaign got underway against Hull City all the way back in August.

While most players will likely be enjoying a well-earned break at this stage of the year, the Robins skipper doesn't want to let a chance to impress on the international stage pass him by.

"I could be in Albufeira but there’s always time for holidays," he said. "These caps and these opportunities are golden and I’m trying to grab them as much as I can.

"This is the dream, this is where I want to be."
