Bristol City vs West Ham live: FA Cup updates from Ashton Gate

Liam Manning had asked for Bristol City to exceed what they had produced at the London Stadium nine days previous, and so his call was answered with the Robins knocking out Premier League West Ham in front of a sold-out Ashton Gate.

The noise levels were continuous and the intensity of City's performance responded in kind, with Tommy Conway seizing on Dinos Mavrapanos' back-pass to score what proved the winner in a moment also symbolic of the hosts approach.

The had to survive some scares as Danny Ings and Maxwel Cornet threatened equalisers but after losing Said Benrahma to a red card at the start of the second half, City appeared more likely to score a second than concede.

89James Piercy

Just over by Wells

An absolute rocket from the striker which flew just over the top corner. Would have been some goal.

87James Piercy

City retreating a little

But West Ham are launching balls forward and they're only finding space rather than anyone in a blue shirt.

85James Piercy

Pressure mounts

West Ham are throwing bodies forward and have won a succession of corners.

80James Piercy

West Ham double change

Cresswell and Ings are off for Divin Mubama and Callum Marshall.

79James Piercy

Wells just wide!

Knight feeds Bell inside Cresswell and his first-time cross is met by Wells but he can't keep his volley down.

77James Piercy

Ings fouls O'Leary

Johnson hooked a high ball into the box which O'Leary was under. He didn't get both hands on it and referee England adjudged that was due to Ings' challenge. The West Ham striker, as you'd imagine, isn't best pleased by that decision.

76James Piercy

Knight from range...

But he doesn't quite catch it and Fabianski saves comfortably. That was immediately after Wells very nearly played Cornick through.

75James Piercy

Next lot of City changes

Gardner-Hickman departs after a strong performance with Knight on in his place. Mehmeti's evening is over with Cornick replacing the Albanian.

75James Piercy

Fabianski eventually gets his hands on the ball

City had a series of half-sights at goal with Bell finally trying to clip in a cross which the West Ham keeper got his hands to.

73James Piercy

City corner

TGH, who's had a fine second half, works the ball out to Mehmeti and Pring fires in a vicious cross which is put behind.

Wells denied!

Gardner-Hickman slipped a pass beyond the West Ham defence for Wells who timed his run perfectly.

The Bermudian tried to beat Fabianski from the angle but the keeper got a strong hand to it. Corner.

70James Piercy

We're bouncing

Ashton Gate is bouncing around. The West Ham fans are not being very appreciative.

67James Piercy

What a save by O'Leary!

Cornet's cross finds Ings who meets it at pace and aims a volley towards the roof of the net but O'Leary tips over.

66James Piercy

First West Ham change

Ben Johnson is on for Coufal.

65James Piercy

Zouma blasts over

It's very scrappy in there as City frantically try to clear and Zouma attempts an awkward-looking effort from outside the box which sails miles over the bar.

64James Piercy

West Ham corner

A long throw is cleared by Dickie as far as Emerson who hist first time but it takes a healthy deflection and goes behind for a corner.

64James Piercy

TGH and Cresswell booked

They've been at it for the last few minutes and England has had enough, booking both players to try and diffuse the situation.

63James Piercy

Williams shoots wide

Bell goes on a diagonal run and eventually finds Mehmeti who plays a pass to Pring on the overlap.

It's then worked back to Williams who fires a shot against the advertising hoardings.

60James Piercy

Wells and Bell come on

Ross McCrorie and Tommy Conway leave the field.

21:03 - Double City change on the way

By James Piercy
