Agatha Christie's Seven Dials has recently made its debut on Netflix. The three-part series, based on the Queen of Crime's 1929 novel, follows the determined Lady Eileen 'Bundle' Brent (portrayed by Mia McKenna-Bruce) as she relentlessly seeks the truth following a murder in her bedroom, reports the Manchester Evening News.

With an array of impressive filming locations, including Bristol's Bottle Yard Studios, and a stellar cast, here's a glimpse into where the drama was shot and its settings.

Where was Agatha Christie's Seven Dials filmed?

Set in the 1920s England, Agatha Christie's Seven Dials captures a nation still grieving after the First World War, despite the era being known as the Roaring Twenties. Much of the action unfolds at Chimneys, the grand yet rundown estate of Bundle and her mother Lady Caterham (Helena Bonham Carter), which is also the scene of the initial murder.

The narrative also takes Bundle to London, with scenes set at the Seven Dials Club, the streets of London and Scotland Yard. Another significant setting is Wyvern Abbey, the residence of George Lomax (Alex Macqueen), who hosts a gathering connected to the murder under investigation by Bundle.

Filming for Agatha Christie's Seven Dials took place across various locations. As per IMDb, these included Lincolnshire, Bath, Bristol and the West Somerset Railway.

Key sequences involving a train were filmed on the West Somerset Railway at Blue Anchor and Minehead, as stated on the Somerset Council's website.

Agatha Christie's Seven Dials and Dawn French's new sitcom Can You Keep A Secret? were both filmed in Somerset. Councillor Mike Rigby, a member of Somerset Council, stated: "Film and TV production is great for the county's economy, local businesses and the visitor economy, which is why we're working to make Somerset as film-friendly as possible. Having two major productions with national and international reach hitting screens in January is a great way to start 2026."

Inside the Bristol filming locations for Seven Dials

The Bottle Yard Studios in Bristol served as the filming location for Agatha Christie's Seven Dials, joining a long list of productions shot there including Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light, Alex Rider, McDonald and Dodds, among others. Additionally, the murder mystery was filmed on location in various parts of Bristol city.

Martin Freeman, star of Sherlock and The Responder, who portrays Superintendent Battle in Agatha Christie's Seven Dials, was seen filming in Bristol alongside vintage cars, according to BBC Countryfile.

In contrast, the historical city of Bath stood in for 1920s London, with street signs for the Capital spotted during filming. Filming also took place in the area of Abbey Green, home to The Abbey Deli, which doubles as the modiste's dress shop in Netflix's popular period drama Bridgerton.

Where was Chimneys in Seven Dials filmed?

The estate of Chimneys, belonging to Bundle and Lady Caterham, was filmed at Badminton House. This Grade II listed property in Gloucestershire is the seat of the Dukes of Beaufort, who lent their name to the sport.

Besides hosting numerous outdoor sporting events, Badminton House can also be hired for weddings and corporate functions.

Director Chris Sweeney shared his thoughts on the choice of location for the estate: "[We] wanted romance for Chimneys, and for it to be crumbling but beautiful. And I based alot of stuff on things like Cecil Beaton's house, Reddish House, which were crumbling, and had pelargoniums everywhere. We sort of combined Cecil Beaton and Vita Sackville-West for Lady Caterham.

"Badminton House delivered on that, because it's a private home, it's sort of romantically crumbly, but also completely lavish and beautiful. And the people who live there are charming and lovely, and I think that comes across in the home, and that was a real find, because ultimately, most of these incredible houses are not private and available to rent.

"They're either venues or National Trust properties, and they haven't got that lovely crumbliness, which I'm obsessed with."

Several Bristol locations were featured, including Barrel House, which doubled as the interior for the Seven Dials Nightclub, Queens Square, All Saints Street/Clare Street for the nightclub's exterior, The Ox restaurant posing as the Bon Temps Restaurant, the Corn Market acting as the Met Police's offices, Arnos Vale serving as the Cemetery, Little King Street representing the East End of London, and Bridewell Street used for Scotland Yard exterior shots. The Bottleyard Studios were utilised for the Seven Dials Society Meeting room.

In Bath, Abbey Green was the backdrop for the Market Basing market square scenes, while Great Pulteney Street was used for the London driving scenes. Some footage was also captured in Cardiff, Wales, with the Crown Court standing in for the Market Basing train station exterior and the Science Library used for the Foreign/India Office.

Where was Wyvern Abbey in Seven Dials filmed?

Westonbirt House in Tetbury, Gloucestershire served as Lomax's grand residence, renowned for its impressive gardens crafted by the Holford family. The estate and gardens are open to visitors for pre-booked tours.

Special lectures are also held at the estate, famed for its Victorian architecture.

Where were the Ronda flashbacks in Seven Dials filmed?

Moreover, the series includes flashbacks to Ronda, Spain in 1920, showcasing the historic town's charm and striking architecture. Perched atop a mountain in Andalusia, Ronda is renowned for its iconic Puente Nuevo bridge, spanning the El Tajo gorge, which features prominently in the opening sequence.

The Puente Nuevo bridge itself provides breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

Ronda also boasts picturesque towns - both ancient and modern - that visitors can explore while taking in the sights, including the Puente Nuevo museum, the Arab Baths, Casa del Gigante, Museo Joaquín Peinado and Mondragón Palace. There's also an opportunity to stroll around the old city walls and view the Puerta de Almocabar as well as the ruins of the Alcazaba.

The historic bullring, Plaza de Toros de Ronda, where an annual bullfight takes place, appears to be the location for the opening scenes from Agatha Christie's Seven Dials. The bullring, open to tourists, was constructed in the 18th century, with the Romero family of Ronda producing three generations of award-winning bullfighters.

Other attractions in Ronda include the 14th-century Baños Arabes (Arab Baths) and the two bridges, Puente San Miguel or the Puente Arabe (Arab bridge) and the Puente Viejo (old bridge). While less spectacular than the Puente Nuevo, they both offer views of the gorge and the expansive countryside.
