Large fire breaks out in residential street

A large fire has broken out at a property on a residential street in Bristol.

Avon Fire and Rescue have told locals to keep windows and doors shut as firefighters tackle the fire in Lawrence Weston this evening, Monday, September 22.

The blaze broke out at a property in Knovill Close, in Lawrence Weston.

Crews from Avonmouth, Southmead, Bedminster, Temple and Kingswood are at the scene.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "Please avoid the area. If you live nearby, please keep your windows and doors closed."

Before nightfall, smoke could be seen for many miles around, according to witnesses.

A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue said: "Crews from Avonmouth, Southmead, Bedminster, Temple and Kingswood Fire Stations are currently tackling a fire on Knovill Close, Lawrence Weston, Bristol.

"Please avoid the area. If you live nearby, please keep your windows and doors closed."
