37 shoe stores across the UK are on the brink of closure as a family-owned firm is pushed to the brink. Russell & Bromley could vanish from the high street as a takeover deal is in talks.

More than 450 people could be at risk of losing their jobs - with ALL sites at risk. Bromley family members βare pushing for a deal with a private equity company that has pledged to preserve the retailerβs stores and jobsβ, as reported by the Times.

Founded in 1880, Russell & Bromley is currently managed by Andrew Bromley, the fifth generation of the shoe makers. Next, and a liquidation specialist called Retail Realisation, have reportedly pursued plans to take over the brand.

Next, which has branches in Birmingham, is only hoping to acquire the brand and its intellectual property, meaning the stores themselves are likely to shut.
Retail Realisation is a liquidation company tied to Modella Capital, according to the Evening Standards.
