Time Out has named a Birmingham attraction as one of the 25 best things to do in the UK list, even though it hasn't opened yet. The publication has highlighted things its readers should 'start planning for now', including a new opening in Digbeth.

The outlet suggested readers 'eat, drink and play at Birmingham's brand-new Boxpark' once it opens on Floodgate Street. Boxpark got the go-ahead from Birmingham City Council to build its 17,000sq ft street food venue under the railway arches earlier this year.

The venue is part of a chain which also has street food locations in London and Liverpool. Time Out says that it will 'pack the same punch' in its round-up.

Sandwiching Brum's new venue in between watching gender fluid ballet in Edinburgh and visiting a floating sauna in Liverpool, Time Out said: "Hyped hospitality outpost Boxpark has stumbled upon a winning formula: good food, good booze and live sport beamed on massive screens.

"With a smattering of venues around London and one in Liverpool, the Boxpark team have now turned their sights to Brum, planning to set up shop in the trendy Digbeth. Boxpark Birmingham will pack the same punch as its well-loved predecessors: revolving street food vendors, plenty of cocktails and its signature mix of music and entertainment.

"All of that will be packed into a spacious 17,000-square-foot warehouse, located under the Floodgate Street Arches."

Birmingham is already known for its home-grown street food entertainment venues. Hockley Social Club near St Paul's tram stop plays temporary home to a number of impressive street food vendors who often go on to set up restaurants of their own due to the quality and popularity.

They include Soi 1268 by the team behind Thai street food outfit Buddha Belly and Greidy Street by the Greidy's Wings and Strips, who both have permanent locations in the trendy, foodie neighbourhood of Stirchley.

Digbeth Dining Club, the Birmingham organisation behind Hockley Social Club, also operates a similar venue in Longbridge, with both venues hosting live music, comedy and more alongside the food.
