New Indian street food restaurant Indico Street opens in Solihull - Birmingham Live

Independent eatery Indico is decked out in a bazaar style

A new Indian street food restaurant is opening in Solihull.

Indico Street Kitchen with its bazaar style look has opened at Parkgate shopping centre.

Inside the two floor 120 seat eaterie, the decor captures the vibrancy of the hustle and bustle of an Indian bazaar with colourful murals designed by street artists and Bollywood style pop art adorning the walls.

The restaurant has an open kitchen - designed to look like a wagon so you can see your food being freshly prepared and cooked in front of you.

Owners say they menu reflects a variety of Indian street food with dishes including buttery paranthas of the Punjab and Goa’s famous Goan fish curry rice and Raos omelette - omelette dipped in spicy coconut gravy garnished with lime and onions.

Other dishes include gol guppa -puffed hollow pastry filled with seasonal potatoes, chilled mint flavoured water, as well as pav bhaji - a typical Mumbai style anytime meal - a spicy blend of mashed potatoes with light toasted bun.

There are also popular Indian Dhaba curries, kathi rolls and biryani as well as a dessert menu with favourites gulab jaman and rasmalai.

But Indico is an all street food affair - so don’t expect a lavish Indian dinner.

On the drinks menu there are a variety of Indian beers, wine, mocktails and cocktails including mango lassi and mango martinis.

And of course real Indian masala chai is also on the menu.

All the current restaurants at Parkgate centre are chains such as Nandos and KFC so Indico’s arrival is certainly going to spice things up for shoppers.

Indico is open for lunch and dinner.
