The difference between supermarket chicken soups - in pictures

Chicken soup is known as a great 'cure-all' for winter coughs and colds.

With this in mind, we decided to buy fresh soups from Tesco, Morrisons, Aldi, Sainsbury's, Lidl and M&S to see how they compared to the Covent Garden brand.

We looked at the difference in ingredients, shelf life, flavour, nutritional content and price.

Take a look through our photos to see the difference in all the supermarket own brand soups.

The Covent Garden soup cost £2.35, the Asda Chicken and Vegetable Soup costs £1.93, the Tesco soup was £1.85, Morrisons Chicken Vegetable Broth was the same price at £1.85 for 600g.

Sainsbury's only had a broth when we visited but it was cheaper than Morrisons, costing just £1.49 for 600g, which works out to 25p per 100g, making it price-matched to Aldi.

Lidl Creamy Chicken Soup was slightly more expensive at £1.59 for 600g and M&S Chunky Country Vegetable Soup was considerably more pricey at £2.75 for 600g, which works out to 46p per 100g - the same price-per-100g as Covent Garden.
