Lots of new soft play centres have opened in and around Birmingham over the past 12 months, adding to the multitude of award-winning venues with great reputations for looking after families for years.


Some have role play villages, others boast pirate shops and assault courses, some have inflatable obstacles and jungle gyms and most have cafes serving good coffee and cakes too.


So, which do you choose? That's where the brilliant parents on our Brummie Mummies Facebook page come into their own.

Here is a selection of their top recommendations -from families that are enjoying them right now.

These soft play centres are ideal for a rainy day out that doesn't cost a fortune. Why not take the kids to a new place at the weekend or over the school holidays?

Flamingoo Soft Play in Erdington

Flamingoo Soft Play opened on Erdington High Street in 2025 and it boasts a role play village and a cafe.

Designed for kids aged 0 to 10, there's lots to do including a police station, shops, kitchen, health clinic, kitchen, fire station and park centred around a twisting road that children can drive mini cars and bikes along.

Parents also like the toddler, sensory and creative zones, ball pits, slides and chutes.

Mum-of-two Stacey aded: "Flamingoo is our new favourite, my boys are 2 and 1 and love it. So clean and lots to do!"

Treasure Island Children’s Play Centre in Northfield

Treasure Island Children’s Play Centre is an award-winning soft play centre on Bristol Road South in Northfield that has been there since 2005.

Centred around a pirate ship, kids can enjoy a two-lane astra slide, a rope bridge, multi-level climbs, passages, tunnels, boarding nets and ball pools.


Mum Caitlin said: "Northfield Treasure Island is amazing. Has a sensory room for babies and an under 4s area for smaller toddlers to play."

There's also a mini sports court and football zone plus a separate under fours area with a caterpillar tunnel, ball blower, trampolines, slides and play frame. Find out more here

Pippatopia

Pippatopia is a role play centre in Smethwick that was opened by a former secondary school teacher after the Covid pandemic.

Designed for children aged 0–7, there are 90-minute play sessions where children can use their own imagination to enjoy being in the post office, salon, hospital, castle, police station and cafe.

There's also an actual cafe for parents plus activities in the cafe area for older siblings too.

Tumble & Giggle in Yardley

Tumble and Giggle opened at the end of 2025 in the Swan Centre in Yardley.

There are trampolines, a ball pit, a roller slide, a musical piano, a mini soccer field, a moving bus and a basketball area.

Under threes have their own dedicated area too.


Mum Muriam said: "Tumble and Giggle in the Swan Centre, Yardley has become a firm favourite. Clean and really well managed!"

The Soft Play Cafe in Stirchley

The Soft Play Cafe in Stirchley features a slide, ball pit, and interactive sensory and game panels.


For little ones, there's a dedicated baby area with tactile activities, offering a safe and engaging space for them to explore.

Little Play Barn in Perry Barr

This is a little role play centre with a cafe.

Just Play in Kingstanding

This family-run, multi-level play centre offers lots of different activities from discos and ballet classes to football clubs and music and movement sessions.

Funky Monkeys in West Bromwich

Funky Monkeys features a jungle themed play structure for children aged eight and under. There's a mini football pitch, twin wavy slides, horizontal rollers, dizzy discs, splat pads, sky glides, vertical rollers, v-net bridge, cargo net, spiders web and bash bags.


Babies get their own separate soft play area plus there's an imaginative kitchen play area. For parents, there's healthy food in the café together with free papers and magazines to enjoy. Find out more here

Natural Play Barn at Sandwell Forge Farm

This purpose-built indoor adventure play area opened at Sandwell Forge Farm in 2025.

It came about following a series of requests from parents and has slides, towers, ladders, multi-level climbing and a small toddler area.

Dad Lee said: "The play area at Sandwell Valley Forge Farm is amazing- not so 'soft' but my two year old absolutely loves it there!"

Little Hooligans in Walsall

Little Hooligans has go karting, mega slides, a sensory room, ball pit and ball cannon.

It's possible to buy a play pass for unlimited returns.

Neverland Funhouse in Erdington

Neverland Funhouse in Erdington is inspired by the Peter Pan story and has murals on the walls, a large soft play area and a separate baby and toddler section.


Made to look like a ship with lights and 'trees growing', the café serves Greek salads, club sandwiches, paninis and burgers for adults and fish fingers, pizza and hot dogs for kids. You can also order doughnuts, ice cream sundaes, cakes and homemade cheese pies plus coffee, 'Fredo cappuccinos' and pots of tea.

And, in the evenings, it turns into a family-friendly Greek restaurant where parents can relax and enjoy homecooked food whilst their kids play. Find out more here

Imagination Street in Redditch

Recommended by more Birmingham mums than any other soft play centre, Imagination Street is one of the biggest in the Midlands, at over 20,000 square foot, with a huge soft play area and massive trampoline park too.


In fact, it's so popular you have to book ahead to get in at weekends, during school holidays and even on teacher training days. Parents love the free newspapers and magazines, Wi-fi and TV so you can enjoy some 'me time'. Parking is free and you also have parties there too. Find out more here

Mum Sarah said: "Has to be Imagination Street in Redditch. The only soft play I can stand as it’s so large. Not busy if you’re able to go during school times with younger ones. The staff are always helpful, the kids' food is pretty good and their parties are excellent."

Faye added: "Another vote for Imagination Street in Redditch. They do a really good deal with unlimited soft play, half hour trampolining and a child’s meal. Bargain!"

Teenie Weenies at Bullring

An ideal pit stop when you're shopping, this city centre soft play is located right by the one of the main car parks to the Bullring centre. There are two soft play areas, one for toddlers and children up to the age of five, and another for kids up to the age of 11 plus a creche for children aged three to eight. Find out more here

Hockerhill Adventure Playbarn in Brewood

Set within the stunning grounds of Chillington Hall Estate in Staffordshire, this playbarn centres around a giant mock oak tree and has hidey holes, bridges, slides, tunnels, rope ladders, high-level walkways and a clock tower.

There's also an outdoor pedal go-kart track, zip lines, a sand pit, slides and swings plus a dedicated toddler area too.


It's just 45 minutes from Birmingham and has a great cafe too.

Big Play Barn at Ash End Children’s Farm, near Tamworth

Tamworth's Big Play Barn also came highly recommended by Brummie parents. This purpose-built play barn features a giant bouncing pillow, and a toddlers section with Wendy houses and sit-on toys.


It can be visited on its own or as part of a combi-ticket to the popular children’s farm, which has run for more than 40 years, offering generations of families a chance to learn about animals and farm life through egg hunting, duckling and bunny handling, tractor and trailer riding, birds of prey demos, and the chance to sit on a Shetland pony or shire horse.

There's also three outdoor play areas, including a combine harvester tractor and swinging bridge plus a crazy golf course plus there's the Farmhouse Kitchen for lunch too. Find out more here

Chilly Kiddy's in Stourbridge

There's more than 8,000 square feet of soft play fun via a multi level play structure with four different slides, climbing wall, trampolines, dizzy discs, bash bags, ball pit and more at Chilly Kiddy's. Parents can sit and watch their kids, reading newspapers and magazines whilst grabbing a coffee or meal from the café. Find out more here

Inflata Nation in Stechford

This enormous 23,000 square foot unit is billed as an 'inflatable theme park!' It has everything from a drop slide and a ball pool to a climbing wall and a Gladiators-style duel platform.


There's also an assault course, inflatable wrecking ball game and even a human version of the Hungry Hippos game! Under fours can enjoy a quieter separate area, which includes giant inflatables. It has its own car park spaces and a café. Find out more here

The Play Station in Saltley

When it opened in February 2019, thousands queued to get their kids in for free. The centre has a three story high play area including a ball pit, crazy slides, rainbow slides, rocket swing, bee ride, climbing web as well as a trampoline area.

Planet Playworld in Solihull has wavy slides, push along toys, climbing obstacles and ball pits plus a separate designated toddler area for smaller ones and hot and cold food in the café. Find out more here

Humpty Dumpty's in Selly Oak

There's a go-kart track at Humpty Dumpty's! It also has a large indoor play area with three different play frames for different ages.

Spacehoppas is a huge adventure zone that's ideal for over fives with slides, tunnels, bash-bags and rope bridges. There are also separate areas for under threes and for those aged three to five too.
