Aston Villa turn Tammy Abraham's head with contract detail as £30m swap deal 'on the table' - Birmingham Live

Aston Villa could utilise a long-term contract to lead Tammy Abraham back to Villa Park with a deal reportedly close to being done.

The Villans are closing in on securing the Englishman after offering a four-and-a-half-year contract, highlighting Unai Emery's faith in him. The 28-year-old was recently being pursued by a number of other Premier League clubs, but has noted that Villa is his destination of choice, having been offered a long-term deal.

However, a deal for Abraham may not be as straightforward as agreeing a fee and finalising personal terms. The striker is currently on loan with Besiktas from Roma, with the Turkish giants triggering an obligation to make the move permanent.

As a result, Villa could opt to offer Besiktas a player on loan to make up for losing Abraham, with Evann Guessand emerging as a potential option, as per The Times. The 24-year-old joined Villa from Nice last year for £30million but has failed to make much of an impact.

He has just two goals to his name from 19 appearances across all competitions thus far, and has gone 12 matches without a contribution in the Premier League this season alone.

Whether Besiktas would consider Guessand as a replacement for Abraham also remains to be seen. The former England international will help fill the void that could be left by Donyell Malen, who has agreed to join Roma this month.

Abraham's journey to the top has been far from straightforward, having already played for seven clubs in his career. The striker, who has 12 goals from 24 matches this season, broke through the Chelsea youth academy in 2016, but failed to flourish at Stamford Bridge.

While he racked up 30 goals from 82 matches for the Blues, he spent large parts of his tenure on loan with the likes of Bristol City and Swansea. He also joined Villa on a temporary stint between 2018 and 2019, where he impressed with 26 goals in 40 games.

Abraham joined Roma on a permanent transfer in 2021, but his story with the Serie A stalwarts has been more of the same after injury troubles - loaned out to AC Milan for 2024/25 before joining Besiktas this season.

As a result of impressing in Turkey, he could now make his way back to the Premier League should Emery secure an agreement with Besiktas.

It comes as the Villans have thrived in the English top flight this season, potentially pushing on for their first-ever Premier League title.

Currently third in the standings, just six points separate them from a table-topping Arsenal. Up next for Aston Villa is a home clash with Everton come Sunday, January 18.

Emery will then turn his attention to a Europa League battle with Fenerbahce at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium on Thursday, January 22, before returning to league action against Newcastle United three days later.
