King Charles III came to the throne following the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II two years ago on September 8 2022.
His coronation took place on May 6 2023 at Westminster Abbey on a wet and windy day. He became King of the United Kingdom and the 14 other Commonwealth realms.
King Charles has now been king for two years and has made many visits to the region as Prince of Wales, but as yet he has not visited our patch as king.

He is recovering after cancer was discovered after an unrelated procedure for an enlarged prostate. The Palace have not revealed what type of cancer the King has or what treatment he is receiving for it.
Prince William has made a number of visits over recent years to the Midlands watching Aston Villa in the UEFA Conference League semi-final, first leg match at Villa Park, Thursday May 2, 2024, where he was pictured with his head in his hands as they lost to Olympiacos 2-4.
He also visited the Betel UK in Birmingham a charity for people affected by homelessness and addiction in April 2024. He also stopped off at the Woodgate Valley Urban Farm, in Birmingham, a city farm dedicated to supporting children and young people struggling to access education and those experiencing mental health challenges.
William also said hello to 12 year old Freddie Hadley from St. Michael's Church of England High School in Rowley Regis on the same day, as the school boy had written to the Prince inviting him along.
