Man charged with Tamworth BMW theft and attempted burglaries - Birmingham Live

Ashley West has been charged with a BMW electric car theft and two attempted burglaries in Tamworth and Whittington a little over a week later

A man from Warwickshire has been charged with three theft offences following a car theft and burglary attempts in Tamworth.

Ashley West, 31, of Grendon, in North Warwickshire, has appeared at a magistrates’ court charged with stealing a luxury BMW i4 electric car in Tamworth in August.

He has also been charged with trying to break into homes in Tamworth and Whittington, a village between Lichfield and Tamworth both a little over a week later on the Bank Holiday.

West was charged with theft of motor vehicle and two counts of attempted burglary with intent to steal.

He appeared at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre in Newcastle-under-Lyme on Tuesday (September 30).

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: “A man has been charged with vehicle theft and attempted burglary offences following separate incidents in Tamworth and Lichfield.

“Ashley West, 31, of Grendon, Warwickshire, has been charged with theft of motor vehicle and two counts of attempted burglary with intent to steal.

“It comes after reports of two attempted burglaries in Tamworth and Whittington on 25 August and the theft of a BMW i4 in Tamworth on 16 August.

“West appeared at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Tuesday (30 September) and has been remanded ahead of his next appearance at Stafford Crown Court on 31 October.”

The news came as Staffordshire Police, in a separate incident, charged a second man with ‘interfering’ with three vehicles – suspected attempted thefts in Cannock and Burntwood.

And dangerous driving during a police pursuit in Lichfield, as well as driving without insurance and driving whilst disqualified.

Liam Wayne Wilson, 26, of no fixed address, has denied the charges at North Staffordshire Justice Centre this week and is now set to spear at Cannock Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, November 18.
