Hairy Biker Dave Myers has appeared with fellow 'Hairy Biker' Si King in several BBC cooking and travel shows including The Hairy Bikers' Cookbook and The Hairy Bikers' Food Tour Britain. In September 2013, Myers joined the Strictly Come Dancing line up. Dave partnered with Karen Hauer and reaching week seven of the BBC competition.
The late TV chef found fame alongside Si, his friend of 30 years, as part of the motorcycle-riding cooking duo The Hairy Bikers. Dave, born in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, first announced he was receiving treatment for cancer in May 2022, but did not specify what type he had been diagnosed with.
Close pal Si announced his death on February 29, 2024, as he told fans his "best friend is on a journey that for now, I can’t follow" as he shared the gut-wrenching news on social media. "I will miss him every day and the bond and friendship we shared over half a lifetime," the grieving star wrote as he paid tribute to his late friend. Dave's devastating death comes amid a new series of The Hairy Bikers Go West gracing our TV screens, following a tear-jerking Christmas special from the culinary duo.
